Inishbofn Development Company
Background:
The Inishbofin Development Company was incorporated in February 1993, as a company limited by guarantee with no share capital to provide the island with a legally recognised voluntary group.
Prior to the inception of the Development Company, voluntary matters would have been under the management of the Inishbofin Development Association. The Inishbofin Development Association was formed in 1989 after the Inishbofin Community Council and the Community Centre Fundraising Group amalgamated.
In 1994 the Inishbofin Development Company received core funding from the Department of Social Welfare’s Island Initiative Programme to employ a Project Co-Ordinator and to implement an agreed work plan. In 1997 funding under the Department of Social Welfare’s Community Development Programme was increased to employ an Administrator.
To date the Development Company has successfully completed four Community Development Programmes totalling twelve years. Funding is now under the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Inishbofin CDP seeks to improve the quality of life by the establishment, development and provision of support and services through the CDP to improve the socio-economic, economic, infrastructure, environmental, cultural, heritage and administrative requirements of the island.Further information on the Inishbofin Development Company click here
