INISH: Island Conversations 2018 Festival

Inish: Island Conversations returns for 2018! A four day cultural Festival that takes place annually on the picturesque island of Inishbofin.

Featuring the best of Irish and international writers, actors, artists and musicians, the Festival has been critically lauded as one of the best new events in the country.

The programme of events for the 2018 INISH Festival:

THURSDAY – May 31st
7pm – Festival opening wine and cheese reception
8pm – Performance – The Man from Mugagu by Aindreas Stack
9:30pm – Concert Scullion. A long awaited concert from one of Ireland’s most treasured bands

FRIDAY – June 1st
11am – Film – Nets of Memory followed by Q&A with Ian Kuijt and Bill Donaruma
12:00 – Reading and in-conversation with Iranian author Ghazal Mosadeq
3pm – Falling Man – Discussion on the nature of a changing societal paradigm – In Festival Gallery
7:30pm – Reading and in-conversation with celebrated authors Paul Lynch and Alan McMonagle
9:30pm Stories in Song – An evening of music in-the-round with Canadian Juno prize-winning songwriter Joel Plasket, John Blek, Shane Hennessy, Inni-K, Anna Mullarkey, and Niamh Regan

SATURDAY – June 2nd
12:00 – Talk and Discussion, “Nobody asks poor people if they want war” With Peadar King (KMF Productions)

One of Ireland’s most gifted songwriters and performers is joined by two of Australia’s

SUNDAY – June 3rd
10am – INISH Walk
with local historian Tommy Burke and bird expert Anthony McGeehan
12:00 – Harmonies workshop with The Maes

2pm – The Art of Satire – In conversation with cartoonist Tom Mathews (in the Community Centre Gallery space)
3pm – Scrutable II
Featuring readings and interviews with writers Vahni Capildeo, Eva Bourke, Aoibheann McCann and Ger Reidy
5pm – Film – Dreamtime Revisited followed by Q+A with Director

6.30pm Festival Hog Roast (Supplement)

8:30pm – Concert – Sam Amidon with Ye Vagabonds
Renowned American songwriter and musician makes his INISH Debut – joined by two of Ireland’s finest folk duos.
10:30pm – Final Concert – Vladamir and Anton Joblokov
