Join us for the Inishbofin Walking Festival and experience the landscape, wildlife, history, and craic that Inishbofin has to offer.
From seaweed to sunsets, to coastal formations and 17th century forts; You are sure to enjoy a wide variety of walks while learning about Inishbofin’s unique landscape and history.

Suitable for:Adults who are physically fit and able to walk for longer periods of time over rough terrain. Interest in adventure and hiking.
What to Bring:Weather appropriate clothing, suitable walking shoes or boots with good grip and a small backpack with water and snacks. If you have binoculars and a torch, we also recommend bringing them.
Weekend Schedule
Friday 19th May 8.30pm:
Kick-Off at the Inishbofin Community Centre. Participants can pick up their walking passes and learn more about the island. Tea, coffee, and refreshments will be available.
Saturday 20th May
7am – 9am: Sunrise Step to the Shore
Watch the sunrise over Inishbofin’s glorious East End beaches and discover the diverse seaweeds and wildlife that grace the Inishbofin shorelines.
9am:
Breakfast will be served in The Beach Bar (included in walking pass)
11am – 3pm: Hike to the Fort
Enjoy a hike along Inishbofin’s south coast and discover the island’s 17th century Cromwellian Fort. Walk times are dependent on tides. If there are any changes, we will update you as soon as possible.
7.30pm: Sunset Spotting
Head for the hills to catch Inishbofin’s renowned sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. Take in the views of our neighbouring island Inishark and learn about the history of the surrounding area as the sun fades over the west coast. Don’t forget to look up on your trek back to spot the stars and incredible night sky.
Sunday 21st May
10am – 2pm: North Coast Walk
Get your packed lunch ready for this trek along the north coast of the Island. Explore the cliffs and sea formations while learning about our unique island history.
