Friday 9th September
8 pm : Stories Untold exhibition opening & book launch
“Stories Untold” is a collection of Haiku-esque poems by Veronika Straberger and Marie Coyne inspired by sea delft washed ashore on Inishbofin island beaches. The exhibition also consists of pictures taken on Inishbofin by Marie Coyne: “I have wandered through doors of many Inishbofin home, now in ruins, saying hello to the people I imagine sitting by the fire”.

9 – 10.30 pm : Desecration Film Screening with Guests
Join our host actor John O’Dowd and some special guests in the screening of ‘Desecration‘, a film shot on Inishbofin in the 1980s also starring some local talent. We’ll also have the great pleasure of hearing greetings from director Neville Presho. Evening snacks available.

Saturday 10th September
10 am – 4 pm Island Visions workshop for young explorers
A creative journey for young explorers led by storyteller, performer and facilitator Orla McGovern. Participants get to explore the future of an island through discussion, art, storytelling and audio. The outcomes will be produced to an audio piece / short film by the facilitators to be shared in an exhibition. For participants aged 8-14. Includes pizza for lunch at 12.

11am – 12.30 pm : Sea What I Say poetry walk inspired by the sea
A walking workshop for both absolute beginners and more seasoned travelers in the world of poetry hosted by writer, facilitator Yvonne Cullen. All ages welcome.

1.30 – 2.30 pm : Ceol na Sióg storytelling and music event for children
An afternoon in the beauty and wonder of the natural world featuring Gaelic songs written by Gráinne Holland. Welcome to the magical world of the mysterious owl, the singing sound of the river, the clacking and chattering crows, the fluttering bees and butterflies – all friends of the fairies you might see riding on the back of a seagull as it flies over the sea.

3.30 – 4.30 pm : Myths & Legends of Inishbofin storytelling session
Take a seat around an imaginary fire and join local historian, tour guide and storyteller Tommy Burke for an afternoon of myths and legends of Inishbofin. Special guest: Joanne Elliott.

5 – 6 pm : Literary Libation gin tasting journey
A journey to the world of gin inspired by the nature and wild herbs of Inishbofin guided by master distiller Eoin Holmes.

9 – 10 pm : Wild Women & Witches storytelling & music event
Órla McGovern, Niceol Blue and Catherine Brophy bring us tales and songs of the Witch and the Wild Woman – whether she be the strange girl in the forest, the exotic temptress, or perhaps the lady next door who has long held on to her strange secrets.

Sunday 11th September
11 am – 12.30 pm : Come to the Show! storytelling performance
A little celebration of Inishbofin’s travelling shows. Walk back in time into the days of Inishbofin’s traveling shows where you can be both the audience and contributor. Hosted by Yvonne Cullen & friends. Family friendly, dress up in 1950s clothes for a chance to win spot prices in the show. We provide gramophones and props.

12.15 – 1.30 pm : Reading Tealeaves creative writing workshop
What do the tealeaves tell you? Let artist Veronika Straberger guide you to explore creative writing in this workshop for all ages.

12.30 – 2.00 : Stories in Stone interactive stone carving demonstration
Discover histories of craft and devotion carved in stone. A demonstration of early medieval stone carving techniques and replica cross-slabs from island monastic sites. Facilitated by Dr. Ryan Lash (University College Dublin, Centre for Experimental Archaeology and Material Culture).

1 pm : The Barber of Belcoo reading of a play
Stop by the Community Centre for reading of a play written by John McManus and read by Anne Hoey, both based on Inishbofin.

2 pm : Stories through Song sean-nós concert
A concert of stories through songs at St. Colman’s Church. We are delighted to have three beautiful singers and souls sharing songs that are meaningful for them – our very own Ann Prendergast, Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin from Carna, Connemara, and Dublin-based singer and songwriter Inni-K who has recently published her third studio album ‘Iníon‘.

Light of Hope through Despair – exhibition by Tetiana Vysotska. With her visual diary Tetiana Vysotska tells her journey from Bucha, Ukraine to Creggs, Co. Galway. When words could no longer express her emotions and she could no longer speak about her fears and anxieties Tetiana turned to art to tell her story.
