Friends of Inishbofin

Description

The “Friends of Inishbofin” product is a unique opportunity for our visitors and supporters of Inishbofin Island to contribute to the sustainable development and preservation of the local attractions, community initiatives, and cultural heritage. By purchasing this product, you can make a donation to support various fundraising projects and initiatives on Inishbofin:

• Renovation of Inishbofin Community Centre (underway in 2023 – 2025, e.g. fixing roof leakages, fixing the heating system, improving insulation, improving the toilet facilities & plumbing)
• Inishbofin Renewable Energy Initiatives (implementing actions identified in our Energy Transition Plan)
• Facilities at our Football Pitch (building changing rooms and toilets)
• Biodiversity initiatives (e.g. creating pollinator & bird-friendly areas, protecting the sand dune system at Dumhach beach, carrying out beach clean-ups)
• Supporting the preservation of the island culture & heritage (e.g. oral recording projects, preserving attractions such as the Barking Pan and Cromwell’s Barracks to future generations)
• Emergency measures (e.g. future-proofing the island for storms, extreme weather and rising sea levels & increasing the emergency preparedness of the island)
