Friends of Inishbofin – Playground Restoration

Join us in making a difference on Inishbofin Island! The “Friends of Inishbofin” initiative offers our visitors and supporters an opportunity to contribute to the sustainable development and preservation of the island’s local attractions, community initiatives, and cultural heritage.

This summer, we are focusing our efforts on raising funds to repair and upgrade the public playground at the Inishbofin Community Centre. Unfortunately, in Spring 2024, an inspection revealed significant defects in all of the playground equipment and we had no other option than to close the playground for the moment being. Given that the equipment has endured nearly 20 years of harsh island conditions, it has reached the end of its lifecycle.

By purchasing this virtual product, you are directly donating to the restoration of our island playground. The funds raised during Summer 2024 will go towards the necessary capital works to ensure our playground is safe, fun, and ready for the community and visitors to enjoy once more.

All income from our online shop goes to public island facilities & development initiatives on Inishbofin. This fundraising is carried out by Inishbofin Development Company CLG, a non-profit community development organisation with a charitable status that runs the island childcare services and manages the island public playground, Community Centre, sports pitch and official website as well as development initiatives on the island.
